A South Texas school district and the nation's largest teachers union say the federal government should fork over the funds they say are needed to meet the requirements of No Child Left Behind.
The Texas State Teachers Association, the National Education Association, Laredo ISD and school districts in two other states have filed a lawsuit against the -S Department of Education.
They say the federal government has broken its promises to provide funding for No Child Left Behind.
" To meet those requirements of testing, it's taken an awful lot of money that the federal government has not given them and then if they fail to meet the standard set or the bar set then they loose money," said
Ann Heuberger, Vice President of the Texas State Teachers Association.
No school districts in the Brazos Valley are involved in the lawsuit.
