Brazos Valley residents will soon see a new bird in the sky, but this one could save lives.
Air Med 12 was unveiled Friday at Coulter Airfield in Bryan.
The $2 million helicopter will be used to transfer trauma patients in an emergency.
In the past, local hospitals have relied on helicopters from as far away as Conroe when a patient needs to be transferred.
PHI Air Medical Texas will operate from Coulter, staffed with a flight nurse, paramedic and pilot 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The service will begin May 1st.
