Investigators say Bryan Nadeau was killed at the scene after he tried to avoid a collision in the south bound lane. The 19-year-old A&M student swerved to miss a car but then drove into the northbound lane hitting a minivan head on.

All eight members of the Burleson family were hurt. Harvey Lott, his wife and six sons ranging in age from eight years to five months are being treated at four different hospitals. The man, his wife and three of the sons were listed in critical or guarded condition.

Nadeau listed his hometown as Enterprise, Alabama.
