A new program at Anderson-Shiro Consolidated Independent School District is putting parents in the drivers seat when it comes to their child's education.
The school is hosting a district wide Language Arts and Social Studies Family Night tonight from 5:30 to 7p.m. at the high school gym.
"In an effort to secure our parents' assistance in ensuring their child's academic success, our elementary, junior high, and high school English Language Arts and Social Studies teachers are teaming up to provide this informative - and interactive - night for our parents and school community," Brandon Core with Anderson-Shiro Consolidated Independent School District said. "This will be a time for us to share with parents what is required of their child in his/her ELA and Social Studies classes, what we are doing as a school to accomplish these objectives, and how parents can help build these skills with their child at home."
Dinner will be provided and door prizes will be given throughout the night. There will also be opportunities to visit parent resource and Barnes & Noble booths.
