Washington County Death Ruled Murder

The death of a Washington County woman has been ruled a homicide. Autopsy results released Friday show Sharan Byrd, 40, died of a single gunshot wound to the neck.

Byrd's body was discovered Tuesday night on the grounds of St. Matthew Baptist Church in Washington. Her former girlfriend, Tyronza Powell, 28, was charged Thursday with Byrd's murder. Her bond is set at $250,000.
