A debate that divided a town will now divide a street.
The Brenham city council has voted to rename West Academy Street after Martin Luther King, but the east side of the street will not be changed.
The council was asked by many residents to find a tribute for Dr. King, but some did not think one of the oldest streets in the city would be appropriate.
The council also okayed the renaming of Horton Street to Blue Bell.
