His was a smile that could light up a room. There aren't many people in the Bryan College Station area who haven't heard of, or been touched by the story of the Beck family. Since birth Timothy Beck struggled with a series of extreme health problems. The community supported his family through different fundraisers. By age 12 Timothy had gone through more medical tests than his parents cared to count, but doctors still couldn't figure out what was causing the deterioration of his body.
After a long battle Timothy passed away Sunday, May 15. Some suspect Tim may have had a type of mitochondrial disease. Timothy's pediatrician says whatever the cause, his case was uncommon. When Dr. Arlene Myer spoke to KBTX about a year ago she said, "Some of the problems he's had we've seen other children have those problems but his combination of those problems has been pretty unusual."
Services are set for Saturday, May 21, at 1pm. The funeral will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Bryan. A celebration of life ceremony will be held in the church's reception hall following the service. Both the funeral and the celebration ceremony are open to the public.
