A newborn allegedly delivered in a Houston emergency room bathroom and concealed in a hospital trash can is reportedly now brain dead.
That's the word from the attorney for the infant's 29-year-old mother. Genny Granados remains jailed today on a charge of injury
to a child.
Her attorney, Elihu Dodier (DOH'-dee-yay) says Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital officials indicated the baby boy has no brain activity.
The child has been on life support since a custodian discovered
the child Saturday night at Southwest Memorial Hermann Hospital.
The child had no pulse but was revived by doctors.
A judge raised bail for Granados from $30,000 to $50,000 Thursday. The legal resident from El Salvador has lived with the father of her two-year-old son for the past five years.
The man, Alfredo Navarro, said he didn't know Granados was
pregnant and doesn't think he is the father of the newborn.
