ACLU, Robertson County Settle Civil Suit

By: Lindsay Liepman

The ACLU and Robertson County have reached a settlement in a civil suit lodged against the District Attorney and other law enforcement officials.

All charges have been dismissed against District Attorney John Paschall and several other members of a Drug Task Force accused of targeting Hearne's black residents in 2000.

A confidential settlement was reached between Robertson County and the ACLU which was representing nine residents who say they were falsely arrested in the raid.

Both sides say they're pleased with the outcome and are now working together to prevent any future friction.

In a couple of weeks, the county and the ACLU will hold a joint meeting with residents to focus on reconciliation and find ways to combat drug abuse.
