Will Concordia University Call Brazos Valley Home?

By: Michelle Peltier

The possibility of another University in the Brazos Valley just got stronger. Board members for Concordia University in Austin say today they will be relocating the Lutheran school. Giddings is on the list of places the University is considering moving to. Another spot on the list is Round Rock. But the school president says it may be some time before a final location is picked.

According to the University, Concordia's student population of nearly 1,200 grew by 50 percent in the past five years. Expansion of the 79-year-old campus would be costly. The University is located in the heart of Austin on IH 35 by David's Medical Center.

In an earlier press release, a University spokesperson says they expect the new construction of the campus to take about three years.
