Weather Problems in the Brazos Valley

People in the northern part of the Brazos Valley had to deal with wind, rain, hail, a reported tornado and lots of lightning Saturday.

In an early afternoon storm, a Grimes County rancher saw first hand the devastation lightning can cause. Jerry Hyman was working in his garden when lightning hit a nearby oak tree. Hyman says the bolt was close enough for him to feel the tingling effects of the lightning. Parts of the large tree were thrown a hundred yards away.

The reported tornado was in Houston County. A couple of barn doors were blown away, but that's the extent of the possible twister's damage.
