A high speed chase through a pair of local counties ends in a wreck and a shooting.
It began just after midnight Friday when a car sped off from a traffic stop in Waller County.
Authorities say after crossing into Washington County at speeds over 100 miles per hour, the car left the road near Routt Road and Riverside Plantation in Chappell Hill, hitting trees and a fence.
When authorities approached the car, they say shots rang out. The driver was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot.
As of Friday afternoon, the driver has not been identified, but the car had been involved in a car-jacking and armed robbery in Houston, and 28 tablets of MDMA or ecstasy and 34 grams of meth was found inside, along with other items believed to have been stolen.
