Biohazard Detection System

A new system at the post office will help ensure our mail is safe before we receive it.

A biohazard detection system was installed at the processing and distribution center at the main post office in Bryan.

The new technology will sort through mail and be able to detect hazardous materials, such as anthrax.

The postmaster says the system is the best detection and prevention method.

"If there is a detection of anthrax, the machine will set off a warning to us. We will shut down the operation and therefore the safety of our employees and safety of the community is that they will not be exposed to that anthrax," said Ron Glenn, Bryan's Postmaster.

Bryan's facility is one of 100 post offices nationwide to receive the biohazard detection system.
