WATCHES AND WARNINGS

Hearne Town Hall Meeting

Two former adversaries are now working together to help mend the relationship between Hearne's black community and law enforcement.

A town hall meeting will be held Thursday night to discuss issues of racism and drugs in the city.

The meeting is being organized by Robertson County officials and civil rights representatives to help reconcile problems that stemmed from a 2000 drug raid.

In that raid 15 black residents say they were wrongly accused and only targeted because of their race.

The settlement reached in the civil rights trial against Robertson County, District Attorney John Paschall and the Agriplex Drug Task Force will also be explained.

The Town Hall Meeting will begin at 7 o'clock Thursday evening at the St. Emanuel Baptist Church in Hearne.
