A&M's blue collar workers will soon be taking home a little more green.

School president Robert Gates today announced an 18 percent increase in the minimum wage for full-time hourly employees. That raise will bump up the university's minimum wage one dollar and twenty cents. Employees will now get $7.77 an hour.

The increase is based on recommendations made by a task force Gates created in April to study pay and benefits for entry-level workers. When the task force started its' investigation, President Robert Gates said the raises would be a financial stretch for the university.
