It's an indication of just how dry it is in the Brazos Valley. There were at least 3 separate grass fires Sunday afternoon.
The worst was in Grimes County at Stoneham where a trash fire got out of control and burned 20 acres which came very close to a home. Grimes County Commissioners will meet Monday to consider a burn ban, joining Brazos and Robertson Counties. Another Grimes County fire at Richards Sunday burned 4 acres.
Meanwhile, Brazos County Pct. 3 volunteer firefighters don't know what caused a grass fire off Harvey Weedon Road on Sunday. That fire got about 30 feet from a home. Some residents say they heard fireworks in the neighborhood earlier in the day.
