United Way of the Brazos Valley hosted its 9th Annual Recognition Luncheon Thursday where it announced that it raised more than $1.5 million over the course of the last year.

The event also recognized individuals and businesses that made contributions through their fundraising and volunteer efforts.

A new campaign initiative was introduced, LIVE UNITED, which serves as an invitation to give, advocate and volunteer in 2008.

United Way of the Brazos Valley's mission is to increase the organized capacity of people in the Brazos Valley to care for one another.
