More than 70,000 homes are without power tonight because of a transmission failure. Entergy Texas spokesman David Caplan says the entire system shut down, affecting homes in at least seven counties. Caplan says he did not know when power would be restored or whether the outage was storm-related.
The outage affects Montgomery, Trinity, Liberty, Waller, Polk, San Jacinto and Grimes counties.
Huntsville emergency officials are asking residents to refrain from calling 911 to report the outage. Also, where signal lights are out, authorities are asking residents to stay off the roads if at all possible.
