Residents in College Station's Oakwood neighborhood have signed a petition to limit the number of roommates in the city's rental housing. The current limit is four. The Oakwood residents would like to give neighborhoods the choice to reduce the number to two.
The homeowners say the city has been talking about the idea for years, and now they'd like to see some action. "To make the Oakwood area and southside a prototype and let them study us if they want to continue studying something," said Oakwood resident Gaines West.
Oakwood residents say they aren't anti-Aggie or anti-student. They say they think current codes will be better enforced with fewer renters living in one house.
