Local Attorney Appointed Judge

A familiar face in Brazos County courtrooms is moving to the other side of the bench.

On Monday, Governor Rick Perry officially appointed Travis Bryan III as judge of the 272nd District Court in Brazos County.

Bryan's term will expire at November's general election, in which he is the only candidate for the judgeship. He will be sworn in March 17.

Bryan is replacing Rick Davis, who is stepping down to run for district attorney.

Bryan is a local criminal defense attorney and served as Brazos County District Attorney. He is a member and past president of the Brazos County Bar Association. Bryan is also a fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and member of the State Bar of Texas. He also served as director of First National Bank of Bryan for more than 30 years.

Bryan received a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University and a law degree from Baylor University.
