George Bush Library Celebrates Fourth of July With A Bang

By: Jennifer Cavazos

As Brazos Valley residents celebrate America's Independence, the George Bush Presidential Library is once again the center of activity

Thousands of people were celebrating the Fourth of July at the annual event. Some showed up as early as three this afternoon with lawn chairs and blankets just to get good seats.

"We're sticking sausages, cooking sausages and selling sausages." says volunteer, David Sweeney.

The juicy taste of watermelons kept thousands cooled off this Fourth of July holiday.

People filled up the lawn at the George Bush Library during the annual celebration enjoying live music all night long, some great tasting food and fireworks.

"It gives a chance to be together and kids like coming to the library and seeing the exhibits," says Liz Carlton.

Spectators were also able to enjoy the exhibits inside the museum for free! Several fighter planes flew over to commemorate the celebration along with patriotic characters greeting the folks.

It's the end of the night that people were waiting all day for.

"I like fireworks and food, love the food," says Becca Carlton.

The firework display was $15,000 worth of pyrotechnics that lit up the Brazos Valley sky to celebrate America's independence.
