Huntsville's school district is getting closer to naming a new superintendent.
The school board is in the process of interviewing candidates and could name a finalist as early as this Thursday.
The new superintendent will officially be hired in August, taking over for current superintendent, Fred Rush, who is retiring at the end of this month.
About 35 applications were received and after a screening process that number was narrowed down for interviews. If the board is unable to reach a decision this week, then a single finalist should be named by July 1.
