CORSICANA, Texas -- Authorities say nearly 200 people were charged with gambling after officers raided a cockfighting operation that included bleachers for spectators and even a concession stand.
The Navarro County sheriffs department says the owner of the property was charged with felony cruelty to farm animals and taken to jail.
In a separate incident in Houston, dozens of malnourished pit bulls were seized from a breeding operation.
An animal-rights official said some of the dogs had scars indicating that they had been used for illegal fighting matches.
