Bryan PD Squad Car Stolen, Recovered

Bryan Police has recovered the squad car stolen by a suspect Friday night. Terry John Maes was arrested a second time at around 2 AM after he drove off with the vehicle.

Bryan PD says Unit #6141 was unaccounted for just before 9 PM. Maes, 19, was picked up at a residence on Dona Drive and was in the backseat of the squad car when he took the vehicle.

Maes was handcuffed, arms behind his back, and left in the car while officers secured the scene. BPD says Maes was able to maneuver his hands to the front and crawl into the driver's seat.

The car was found off of Mumford Road north of Lake Bryan at around 10:50 PM. After combing the area with canine units, Maes was found a few hours later.

Police officials say Maes had no access to any police weapons.
