The leader of the Fort Worth Roman Catholic diocese, Bishop Joseph Delaney, has died at age 70.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports on its Web site that the Delaney's death was revealed to diocesan staff in an e-mail. The e-mail said the bishop's housekeeper found his body Tuesday morning.

Delaney was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2003, but had said the cancer was in remission.

Newly appointed Coadjutor Bishop Kevin Vann had been scheduled to be installed in ceremonies tomorrow. No word yet on whether the ceremony will be delayed.

As coadjutor bishop, Vann was to be Delaney's likely successor and the third bishop in the history of the Fort Worth diocese.
