RUSTON, La. -- A traffic accident in Louisiana has killed a Texas man.

Ruston police say a 27-year-old Anthony Wayne Sumrall of College Station was struck and killed by an 18-wheeler while putting gasoline in his pickup on the shoulder of Interstate 20.

Authorities say Sumrall was refilling the tank early Wednesday when an eastbound Fed-Ex 18-wheeler struck him.

The trucker, 31-year-old Troy Bingham of Jackson, Mississippi, told police he was unable to change lanes because of traffic on the left-hand side.

The accident remains under investigation.
