Free food has people flocking to the new College Station Chick-fil-A.
As of Wednesday morning, over 50 people had camped out at the location on Texas Avenue.
That is because the first 100 adults in line get free Chick-fil-A for a year. The restaurant will open at 6 a.m. Thursday and that is when the die hard chicken fans will receive a free Chick-fil-A combo meal each week for a year.
"I'm a college student and you take any opportunity you can to get free food," Contestant Justin Morales said. "It's not every day people give you free food and a chance to win it."
Morales is the first in line. He has been camping out with friends since Tuesday night. If a contestant leaves the restaurant's premises, they're immediately eliminated.
Participants, 18 years and older with identification, can line up as early as 24 hours prior to the opening.
Truett Cathy, a restaurateur for more than 61 years, launched Chick-fil-A in 1967 in the Greenbriar Mall in Atlanta. Since that time, all three of Cathy's children and three grandsons have joined the family business.
Chick-fil-A is credited with inventing the boneless breast-of-chicken sandwich and pioneering in-mall fast food. The chain has grown to more than 1,375 locations in 37 states and Washington D.C.
