A&M students may no longer be swiping their Aggie Bucks for a quick snack between classes.

This fall the university plans to launch a new debit card pilot program that could foreshadow the end of Aggie Bucks.
Right now, Aggie bucks can only be used locally at a limited number of businesses.
Students can use the new debit card anywhere, making spending easier.

The new system will also make it quicker and easier for students to receive financial-aid checks and tuition refunds.
Students can have this money directly deposited or receive a check straight from the bank.
If the pilot program this fall is a success students may be seeing a phase out of the Aggie Bucks starting in January 2009.
