Robin Hood Partnership

Bryan and College Station have entered a contract for the Wealth Equalization Plan, also known as the Robin Hood Plan.

Under the current school finance plan, College Station, a wealthy district, is required by state law to give money to the state or to a property poor school district.

College Station's school board agreed to give Bryan nearly $10 million, but the district will only actually receive about $1 million. The rest goes to the state.

"Communities now such as College Station are being limited in what they're able to do to fund the education that they deem to be appropriate for their own children," said Mike Ball, CSISD Business Operations.

If legislators work out a new school finance plan, the contract will be voided.

College Station is among several school districts involved in a lawsuit against the state, arguing against the Robin Hood Plan. That case is currently on appeal with the Texas Supreme Court.
