Brazos Valley Burn Bans: The following counties are under a Burn Ban: Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Houston, Lee, Leon, Madison, Milam, Robertson, San Jacinto, Trinity, Walker, Washington
Huntsville closed both of its Red Cross shelters on Friday.
The last hurricane Katrina evacuees left Family Faith Church and First Baptist Church.
Through FEMA vouchers, emergency management was able to provide housing and transportation to help evacuees.
Several evacuees have found jobs and decided to make Huntsville their permanent home. But the process wasn't difficult for those who wanted to leave.
“The process here in Walker County has worked tremendously. We've had about a 30 minute turnaround from the time we know where they want to go and we put in the request. In approximately 30 minutes to an hour we have that ticket in their hand and ready to let that person move on to where they want to go," said Butch Davis, Walker County Emergency Management Coordinator.
It's estimated that about 700 evacuees remain in Walker County.
