A Lexington boy died Friday night after battling a rare illness he caught while on a camping trip at Lake Somerville.

8 year old Brandon Michael Hess contracted primary amebic meningoencephalitis. The ameba that causes the disease is in almost every lake, but it's extremely rare a human will catch the sickness.

Funeral services are set for Monday morning at ten, at First Baptist Church in Lexington.
