21-year-old Homero Vega of Brenham was found early Monday morning after drowning at Lake Somerville over the weekend.

Officials searched the lake for hours Sunday afternoon before eventually postponing the search until Monday morning.

Vega's family was at the scene when Burleson County Sheriff's Deputies and the Game Warden discovered Vega's body.

According to witnesses Vega walked through the lake for several yards before suddenly panicking.

Vega reportedly started to bob up and down and flail wildly, and eventually went underwater and never came up.

Witnesses at the lake also say that many people thought he was joking around in the water before they realized it was too late.

Vega's body has been transported to Austin for an autopsy.
