A 15-year-old girl is receiving treatment after being shot by her ten-year-old brother, who then shot and killed himself.

A Life Flight representative tells News 3 they were called to Highway 30 and Duke Road around 9:30 p.m. Thursday.

According to Walker County Sheriff's officials, the boy entered the room of his sister Thursday night, then shot her multiple times before turning the gun on himself. Their mother was home at the time, while their father was at work.

Both siblings were transported to a Houston medical facility, where the boy died. Identities of the two have not been released.

Authorities say the girl is in critical condition but stable at last check Friday morning.

They also say the home has a secure gun safe, and at this point, investigators are not looking at the parents for negligence at this point.
