Food Services Audit Leads to Release of Senior A&M Administrator

A senior administrator at Texas A&M University is out of a job.

Food Services Executive Director Ronald Beard had been on leave since early last month during an internal audit that looked into possible rules violations and inappropriate activity within the department.

A food services employee Wednesday said Beard was no longer employed at the university.

A&M's Finance Vice President Joe Powell confirmed that regents were presented with the results of a 2003 audit Friday that showed mismanagement, and a lack of inventory control.

As a result, Powell says, the department is being reorganized under the leadership of of an acting director until a permanent director is appointed.
