The number of academically unacceptable schools rose this year in the Texas Education Agency's accountability rating system. But 27% of campuses and about 15% of districts in Texas managed to achieve average or high marks.

As for schools here in the Brazos Valley. Both Bryan and College Station's school districts received academically acceptable ratings.

In Bryan, Johnson and Bowen elementary were recognized and Sam Houston Elementary received an exemplary rating.

3 schools in College Station were recognized, College Hills, Southwood Valley, and Rock Prairie. Pebble Creek was exemplary.

But some districts in the area didn't make the grade. Calvert and Burton I.S.D. failed with an academically unacceptable rating.
