The Leon High School Principal is out of jail Thursday, after being charged with assault.
County Attorney James Witt filed the charges against David Jones. Jones turned himself in Thursday morning.
He's been charged with assault causing bodily injury, a class A misdemeanor. The charges come after a student accused Jones of grabbing and bruising his shoulder.
Despite a Sheriff's Department investigation, Jones and his attorney maintain Jones' innocence.
"We disagree with this whole process. We think this charge of assault is baseless and unfounded. It involves a 17-year-old student at Leon High School with a history of discipline problems," said Jones' Attorney, Billy Carter.
Leon ISD Superintendent Jay Winn says he doesn't consider the student who made the accusations to be a discipline problem.
Jones has been on administrative leave since February. The Leon school board is expected to meet soon, to discuss the recent charges.
