An Aggie astronaut may be leaving the launch pad in about seven months.
Friday, NASA announced the seven astronauts for mission STS-121 will shoot for a May 2006 liftoff. That crew will include Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Mike Fossum, Aggie Class of 1980.
Fossum will be making his first flight aboard Space Shuttle Discovery. They will be testing new safety equipment and dropping supplies off at the International Space Station.
Fossum graduated from McAllen High School, and was a squadron commander in the Corps of Cadets during his time at A&M.
