One person is dead and two are injured after a meeting between the three in the 2100 block of Kazmeier Plaza in the Greenfield Plaza neighborhood of South Bryan.
Following the notification of next of kin, the deceased has been identified as 48-year-old Amos Ybarra.
Bryan Police received a call on the incident around 6:10 PM Thursday night. They arrived to find Ybarra dead of an apparent gun shot wound, and a man and a woman suffering from stab wounds.
Andy Fitts, 50, was stabbed twice, and Phyllis Scott, 37, suffered multiple stab wounds.
Police are in the process of interviewing neighbors who may have heard or seen any part of the incident. One resident who lives down the street spoke to News 3, saying he heard two pops between 5:20 and 5:30 PM, although Bryan PD officials say it is unlikely more than half-an-hour elapsed between the time of the incident and the call to police. However, they have not released and/or determined an exact time of the event.
Fitts was released from St. Joseph a few hours after the incident. Scott was still in the hospital, last listed in serious condition as of Friday afternoon.
The relationship between the three is unknown, although police say they believe Ybarra was on his way to Fitts's residence when the three met in a courtyard-like area next to some garages in the neighborhood.
