Sex Offender Charges Nixed for Teen

A Franklin teen accused of molesting two young girls will not have to register as a sex offender after accepting a plea bargain Tuesday.

Luke Pickering, 19, pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of Injury to a Child, dismissing all nine sex-related charges. Pickering admitted to committing non-consensual sexual acts against the girls who were living with his family. He was sentenced to six years probation, 90 days in jail and psychological counseling.

His father, James Pickering, who was also involved in the molestation, was previously convicted of two counts of indecency with a child.
