A pair of Grimes County school districts plan to ask for voter approval to upgrade their campuses.
Iola has put together a $10 million bond package which includes construction of a new elementary school on the site of the current football stadium. That'll require building a new stadium at another location. The district also wants to renovate existing elementary school facilities and expanding the band facilities.
Community forums to discuss the bond proposal are set for April 24 and 28 at 7 p.m. at the Iola school cafeteria.
The Anderson-Shiro school district will ask its voter's to approve a $23 million bond package. The big ticket item is a brand new facility to house both the high school and junior high. The district then plans to renovate the existing high school/junior high to be used as an elementary facility. The bond package would also create a new vocational ag farm on school district property.
