A pair of Grimes County school districts plan to ask for voter approval to upgrade their campuses.
Iola has put together a $10 million bond package which includes construction of a new elementary school on the site of the current football stadium. That'll require building a new stadium at another location. The district also wants to renovate existing elementary school facilities and expanding the band facilities.
Community forums to discuss the bond proposal are set for April 24 and 28 at 7 p.m. at the Iola school cafeteria.
The Anderson-Shiro school district will ask its voter's to approve a $23 million bond package. The big ticket item is a brand new facility to house both the high school and junior high. The district then plans to renovate the existing high school/junior high to be used as an elementary facility. The bond package would also create a new vocational ag farm on school district property.

WELL IF THE MOST CONFLICT IS THE OLD GYM IS CONDEMED BY STATE AND NOW IS THAT REALLY SAFE FOR YOUR KIDS TO BE PLAYING INSIDE OF? YOU SAY THAT YOU ARE OUT FOR THE SAFETY OF THE KIDS WELL THAT IS NOT SAFE! AND THE WHOLE ISSUE OVER BUILDING THE CAMPUS SEPERATE FROM THE HIGH SCHOOL WELL THAT WOULD RAISE THE TAXES EVEN MORE BECAUSE YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY MORE MONEY FOR MORE EMPLOYEES BECAUSE YOU CAN'T HAVE THE SAME EMPLOYEES WORKING AT TWO DIFFERENT CAMPUSES! THAT'S REAL SMART SO IF YOU ARE COMPLAINIG ABOUT THE TAXES GOING UP THEN THEY WILL DOUBLE BECAUSE OF THE MORE EMPLOYEMENT!!! THE BOND NEEDES TO PASS! IF YOU GO UP TO THE SCHOOL ON ANY GIVEN DAY DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR YOU WILL SEE HOW IN NEED WE ARE FOR MORE SPACE!!!

I know that there is a need for new school. But I am OPPOSSED to the bond Iola Isd is trying to pass. They are wanting to tear down our old gym and build on our ONE HUNDRED Year OLD football field.Iola ISD say they want to keep our campuses together because the high school and elementary share some of the same buildings. Well if we are going to build why not we seperate the campuses. Leave the high school and junior high where they are and put elemntary across the road. Leave our football field and historical gym alone. If we have room for a new football stadium across road then iam sure it is large enough for what Iola isd is proposing. In the brochure that is being passed around does not mention the gym being torn down to make way for delivery trucks. It also states that there is a safety issue on the parking for football games. That field has been there for a hundred years and to my knowledge there has never been an accident because of where you park.
