AUSTIN -- A Texas court today issued a warrant for indicted former US House Majority Leader Tom DeLay.
Bail will be $10,000 for the Republican from SugarLand, who says he's innocent of conspiracy and money laundering charges.
Travis County court officials say DeLay has been ordered to appear at the Fort Bend County jail for booking. That's where he'll likely be fingerprinted and photographed.
Defense attorney Dick DeGuerin says the warrant is a matter of
routine and bond will be posted. The lawyer declined to say when DeLay would surrender to authorities but said the lawmaker would make his first court appearance Friday in Austin.
The charges stem from allegations that a DeLay-founded political committee wrongly funneled corporate money into 2002 GOP legislative races in Texas.
