Shoe displays at the mall aren't unusual, but a shoe display not for sale, is.

Scotty's House collected 300 shoes for a memorial at the Post Oak Mall Saturday.

The shoes represent Brazos Valley kids who've been neglected or abused in the past year.

"While there's not the full compliment there, there were over 1,300 cases in Brazos County alone last year. This is a way to get people's attention that this is a large and real problem in our community," said Nick McGuire with Scotty's house.

Those shoes were taken down and given to kids who need them.

Scotty's house is a local child-advocacy center, and is a neutral place where young victims can be interviewed in a kid friendly environment.
