The day care where a College Station toddler was severely injured is no longer caring for children.
State officials made sure of that after learning it was operating illegally.
One year old Alexis Verzal is improving at a rehab center after receiving injuries at the in-home day care earlier this month.
Brazos County authorities don't think her injuries were accidental, but are not releasing the day care's name.
Doctors told the family that Alexis suffered retinal hemorrhaging and brain swelling, injuries consistent with Shaken Baby Syndrome.
"We've been so supported by our neighbors who are taking care of our house and our yard," said Tiffany Verzal, Alexis' mother.
Support has been pouring in from throughout the region for the Verzal family, which is in Nebraska for Alexis' treatment.
Members of the 12th Man Production and Athletics Director's office have helped get a Scott and White gift card for the Verzals.
Soccer coach G Guerrieri is also working to get a foundation started for Alexis with money going to pay for her care, and maybe even the care for others like Alexis.
And then there is emotional support. The athletics department employees have sent video messages of support to the family.
Church groups in the area have also made prayer requests for the family. That includes Grace Bible Church, where Brad Evans is a pastor.
"Christ calls us to demonstrate love to one another," Evans said. "One of the main ways we do that is to serve each other and provide care."
"We knew we had great friends and we knew we were part of the Aggie family, but to see it in full force is an absolutely amazing thing," Tiffany Verzal said.
