Brazos Valley parents were given some peace of mind Saturday, after they learned their most precious cargo would be riding safely.
Car after car lined up in the parking lot of the College Station Medical Center, each driven by moms and dads who wanted to have their child car seats checked out.
For hours, trained volunteers helped make sure each seat was properly installed, and that it was the right size seat.
According to volunteers, many of the parents had the same questions..
"Their main thing is they don't know about the seat expiration dates and a lot of them, the kids are just in the wrong way," said McKenzie Henry, a project coordinator for Texas A&M Agrilife Extension.
If anything was wrong with the safety seat, volunteers tried to replace the seat at no cost to the families.
If you missed Saturday's check, but would like to know if your child safety seats are properly installed, you can call Henry's office at 979-862-8325. You can also call the Bryan or College Station police departments to have your child seat checked free of charge.
