First, the grocery store, then, College Station ISD, and now prices will be going up for food at Bryan ISD.
Beginning this fall, school lunch prices are going up a quarter for all grades.
That means lunch will now cost $2.00 for elementary students and $2.25 for upper classmen. Breakfast prices will increase from $1.00 to $1.25.
Teachers and employees will see the biggest increase. Their lunch prices are going up 50 cents for lunch, raising the price from $2.50 to $3.00. Breakfast prices for staff will only increase 25 cents.
The last time the school increased prices was back in 2001. Rising food and gas costs are partially to blame for the price hike.
The increase will not affect students who receive free or reduced-price meals.
