A Brazos County injury to a child case is now in the hands of the district attorney.

For more than a month, the Brazos County Sheriff's office has been investigating suspicious injuries to College Station toddler, Alexis Verzal.

Sheriff Chris Kirk says his office turned over its investigation to the Brazos County District Attorney late last week.

The district attorney's office can either authorize an arrest warrant or take the case to the grand jury. District Attorney Bill Turner said Monday a timetable has not been set for the case.

It was April 3rd that Alexis suffered what investigators call non-accidental head trauma at the home of her day care provider. The family day care is no longer operating.

Alexis was treated for eye and brain hemorrhages, which are injuries consistent with shaken baby syndrome.

The one-year-old is making progress at a Nebraska rehabilitation center.

how in the world can we not want to judge this person. Alexa was FINE when her mom dropped her off at the daycare and is NOT FINE - and that childcare provider hurt her - i hope she spends the rest of her life in jail or get back what she did to her............

Seems we have a rush to judgement here. Maybe we should wait for the legal system to determine if this was intentional or an accident. The most important thing is that this baby gets well. We may fine in the end that the "accused" is in fact innocent and it was an unfortunate accident. Wouldn't we feel foolish if that happened?

I understand that everyone is innocent until proven guilty, but I do hate that fact that these so called providers are being hidden from plain view. I pray daily for this family. But I also pray for justice.
