Train Derails in Grimes County

A damaged track or railroad tie could be to blame for a train derailment in Grimes County.

Local law enforcement was told by Union Pacific officials that the train's engineer was not at fault and the crew felt a bump before jumping the tracks.

The accident happened Tuesday night on Highway 105 about five miles outside Navasota.

Grimes County Sheriff's deputies directed traffic on Wednesday between FM 632 and FM 1748 while Union Pacific representatives cleared the scene.

Most of the accident site was cleaned up Wednesday evening, except for a few of the cars which remained on the side of the road.

No one was hurt in the accident.
