Jury selection began Monday in the capital murder trial of a man accused of killing his four-year-old stepson in College Station.
Timothy Lewis, 27, is accused of brutally beating Tyrone Fenner Jr. in June 2004. Fenner was in a coma for weeks before he died at an Austin hospital.
The Brazos County district attorney's office is not seeking the death penalty.
If convicted, Lewis could get up to life in prison.
Opening arguments are scheduled for Tuesday in the 85th District Court.
Lewis has been out on bond since December.
