It's a plan of attack just in case of a disaster.

Easterwood Airport prepared for the worst Wednesday, simulating an emergency situation. Rescue workers were put to the test, making sure they know what to do if a fuel tanker exploded.

"We simulated that an aircraft was being refueled, then simulated that the fire truck ignited," John Happ with Easterwood Airport said.

Officials calculated response times and timed just how long it would take to evacuate the building.

"The drill is what we have to do a minimum of every three years," Happ said. "This year, we decided to involve as many people as we possibly could. Communication is the most important thing. Who can inform and keep them informed of what is really happening. I think we can always improve on communication."

The exercise is a good test to make sure Easterwood Airport is ready to tackle any problem it may face.

"Some things we did very well, and I think there is a lot of room for improvement," Happ said.

The last time Easterwood Airport conducted a drill this size was in 2005.

Easterwood conducts other tests throughout the year. In the past, employees have worked through a simulated hostage situation. In an other scenarios, crews had to deal with an airplane that ran off the runway.

All entities will meet Tuesday and discuss what went right and what went wrong with Wednesday's training exercise.
