About 100 veterans and families of service members filled the Earl Graham Post in Bryan for a somber Memorial Day service.
Honors were presented to those who had lost a family member in battle or have a relative currently serving overseas, and American flags were handed out to place beside graves.
It was a particularly emotional day for William and Mary Kay Edwards of Somervile, as members of the legion presented them with a Gold Star and a special plaque for their son Billy, who was killed by sniper fire in Iraq last August.
The gold star is presented to family members who lost a relative in combat, while the blue star is given to those that currently have a family member serving in the military.
